Bank balance not a pretty sight? If your finances are getting you down, don’t despair – your social life needn’t suffer just because you have to cut back on spending. Having more nights in could be the perfect way to catch up with friends and save on dosh. So try out these quick ideas for cheap, house-bound fun…
1. DVD heaven
Whether it be Rachel Zoe, True Blood or the latest installment of Gossip Girl, this is the ultimate cheap night in that combines food, goss and viewing pleasure! Throw in a bottle of Sauv Blanc or two and it’s a party under $50.
2. Sing your heart out
Turn your lounge into an instant Karaoke (minus the rowdy crowd and stale beer) and put those singing skills to the test with XBOX 360’s LIPS. Their latest offering 'Lips: Number One Hits' features the best tracks of recent years and top music videos from all your favourite pop stars.
3. Let the games begin!
Old school though it is, board games are making a serious comeback since they are as cheap as they are retro-chic . So jump on the bandwagon and dig out that old game of Trivial Pursuit, Scrabble or Pictionary for some nostalgic fun.
4. Dinner party delights
Thanks to a certain reality hit series, amateur cooking is now hotter than hatted eateries. So dust off the apron and treat your closest friends to your culinary creations. Better still, host a Mad Men style dinner party with a theme. Check out Recipe Finder for some easy-to-follow recipes.
5. Create a home spa
Pampering sessions are a great way to have home-based fun with the girls and it can be easily done (on a budget) by throwing a Body Shop At Home party. Organise a Body Shop consultant to turn up at your home with a bag of goodies and then have fun sampling a whole range of products. As host, you receive a selection of free treats and a discount if you make any purchases. Check out Body Shop's website for details.
6. Swap till you drop!
Feel like your wardrobe is getting a little tired? Why not plan a clothes swap with a few fashion-loving mates? Start with a bottle of bubbly, organise the clothes in similar value piles and let your inner bargain hunter go wild. Who would have thought you could stay in AND extend your wardrobe at the same time?
Enjoy :-D
